save death

Ever sit at work and feel like you are being watched well just maybe it’s not your boss doing the watching, maybe your workplace is in fact haunted by some unseen spirit. Here you will read about true tales of hauntings that have and are taking places in many of the workplaces through out the world. The places have not been named as to protect a surge of investigations.

There may be many reasons why a workplace is haunted, there could have been a tragic accident or maybe someone really enjoyed their job, so that after passing they might still want to continue to work, or if the workplace could have been built on haunted land. Here are just a few incidences of workplace related hauntings.

Nursing homes and hospitals seem to top the list of haunted workplaces, as life seems to play out in these facilities. In nursing homes, many elderly persons go there to live out their remaining years and many deaths occur there on a regular basis, it goes for hospitals also.

There are many reports of nurses on the “graveyard” shift “seeing” patients that they could not account for. One nurse that worked in a nursing home wrote to us about an elderly man that was constantly seen peering through the windows on the door for an upstairs wing. Many new nurses thinking that an elderly patient was lost would give chase only to find out that no such patient was missing or lost.

Other nurses in the same home reported seeing a tall woman in white that would go from room to room, thinking that one of the patients were out of bed a thorough search was made only to discover that all the patients were accounted for and asleep.

At another facility for rehabilitation a nurse wrote to us about patients that saw a woman come into their room and hide in their closet, the two frightened woman called the nurses station and someone went to inspect the closet, they of course found no one. They calmed down the two women and went back to the station, not two minutes later the patients in the same room called the station again and said that the woman had just come out of the closet and walked through the wall by the window.

Many nursing homes and hospitals report that at a dying patients bedside there will be specters of the persons family members as if they are waiting to escort them after death. This although frightening to some may in fact be a comfort to many terminally ill people, that they in fact would not be dying alone but in fact be surrounded by family members.

Also many nurses and orderlies wrote to us about seeing apparitions in hospitals especially around the morgue area, perhaps this is where their earthly bodies were last and they wanted to be close to this place.

One woman that was in visiting a very sick relative in intensive care reported to us of seeing a relative of hers checking up on the patient as if that relative was still among the living and just carrying on the duty of seeing to a sick family member.

A woman that worked in a cafeteria reported that when she came to work early in the morning to set up for the day, she would hear the food trays being pushed along the rails as if someone was pushing them along to pick up their food and beverages. When she stepped out into the serving area no trays were out of place.

Storeowners also report mysterious noises and movement of objects as if the unseen apparition is unhappy with the way the store is set up. A local antique shop owner reported strange occurrences just after he purchased a sideboard from an estate sale. Working late at night he would often hear the sound of many voices in the front of the shop, but upon closer inspection he would find that he was alone. Things placed on the sideboard for sale would be found moved to another area as if someone did not want the items there. Many other noises would occur throughout the store, with no explanation as to what was causing them. Strangely all occurrences would stop as soon as the sideboard was sold. It makes you wonder if the new owners of the haunted sideboard were having any strange things happening in their home.

Many reports of haunting were reported in a local factory that was once an institution for the mentally ill. Workers on the late shift would report the disembodied screams and moans of the long ago patients. One work room was especially bad with screams and moans, strange banging sounds and just a feeling of despair, that when the factory’s owner did some research he found that this room was used for the hydrotherapy of the seriously mentally ill. This hydrotherapy was a bathtub filled with warm water in which the agitated patient would be immersed into; a heavy leather cap would be put over the entire tub only leaving the patients head visible. The water in the bath was then changed by a serious of pulsating bursts that were meant to calm the patient, but many became violent kicking the sides of the tub, moaning and screaming until finally they relented and became subdued.

A town hall in the northeast was having a lot of unexplained hauntings. Many workers going down into the vaults to put away important documents would report hearing someone crying in the long depths of the cellar. A psychic was brought in and this psychic picked up the spirit of a mentally ill man that had been locked down in the depths of this cellar by orderlies to see if he would be frightened. The town hall had a history in the early part of the last century it was a mental hospital where many acts of cruelty was uncovered causing the hospital to close it’s door.

Also in this same building many workers reported the vision of a small boy with a facial deformity hiding in fear from the ward guards that would come and torment him at night. It is reported that many parents in the early 1920s faced with a child that had a deformity would in fact place them into this hospital and literally forget about them. The orderlies at that time were indeed called ward guards.

The hauntings in workplaces is not a new occurrence, but there have been many accounts of ethereal visions through out time.

In the 1860s one farmer could not get his farm hands to work in a certain area of his farm. No matter what he tried they would refuse claiming that they heard disembodied voices, pleading for help, calling for a mama, moaning and screaming. At first the farmer did not believe them, believing that they were trying to get out of doing work, so he went out to the area that the farm hands heard the noises in.

At first all the farmer could hear was the area sounds of the wind, birds and other noises, but soon these common noises were replaced by voices. At first the farmer suspected his farm hands of playing a trick, but after searching he could not find them. So the farmer began to listen, he heard a voice that was calling out to some ones momma, another calling for help, still another repeating water, water over and over again. These voices seemed to fill the air with the moaning and groaning, frightened the farmer ran back to his home, vowing never to return to that area of his farm. After he had calmed down he realized that acreage was used as a temporary gravesite for the many wounded and dying victims from the Gettysburg battle, until they could be relocated to a permanent gravesite.

Satanism

Defrocked priests started Satanism during the burning times, which was the burning of people at the stakes for witch craft. There are two main satanic denominations, many smaller traditions and many solitary practitioners. Satanists do not believe that a redeemer lives. They place emphasis on the power and authority of the individual Satanist. Satanists believe in Satan as a living entity but they claim no to worship or show any faith in him. They believe that all should live out their lusts and desires and enjoy exploring the seven deadly sins. Which is lust, gluttony, pride, covetous, anger, envy and sloth's, being lazy.

As a symbol Satanist use a goat's head drawn with an inverted pentacle which is a 5 pointed star that has one point downward while two is up all of this has a circle around it.

Local groups of Satanist may be called grottos, pylons or temples. Satanist use magic and other rituals to benefit themselves and their friends, but they also use rituals to harm their enemies. Satanist tend to be highly critical of other faiths especially Christianity.

Paganism

Paganism is a religion and should not be taken as a joke. For some it is a different way of looking at the world just as much as any of the other religions do. Although it is not a cult as it does not look at one leader for the answers to problems, rather pagans tend to be individuals that are a free thinking group of people. Pagans respect for nature and believe that a divine lives in everything.

Many pagans believe in developing a relationship with their gods and goddess through spell work and meditations. There is a pagan calendar that has holidays that they celebrate.

Pagan congregations some times are called covens, circles or study groups. Also there are many solitary practicing witches too.

Pagans do not worship Satan or the Lord, rather they have an endless number of pre-Christian deities that they worship instead. They do not believe in notions of good and evil, they only believe in appropriate or inappropriate actions.

One thing Satanism is not a pagan tradition; most witches take a serious offense to be confused with Satanists.

Voodoo

Voodoo comes from Africa but the main structure was born in Haiti, it developed in the African culture by the European colonist's slave trading. By trying to keep the tribes separated the colonists inadvertently helped the transplanted Africans to find a common thread through their faith.

The slaves began to invoke not only their own gods but also those of the different tribes, they soon began to modify the rituals of the other tribes and combine them with their own. This created a new religion-voodoo.

What is the essence of voodoo? In the voodoo society they believe that there are no accidents, that the entire universe is one that each thing that is done affects something else. So what it means is that what you do to someone else you do to yourself as well.

Voodoo ceremonies believe that the spirits of ancestors can bring either good or harm and thus must be honored in these ceremonies. Their rituals include prayers, dancing and singing and animal sacrifice as an offering for the spirits.

Voodoo translated means the snake under whose auspices gather all that share the faith; this is why the snake figures heavily in the voodoo faith. Practitioners believe that the spirit of the snake possesses their high priestess or priest showing the snakes power. There are many spirits that are believed to possess the faithful during the voodoo ceremonies.

Music and dance play a big part in the ceremonies, it is an expression of spirituality and is a connection between the believer and the spirit

Santeria

Santeria, translated means the way of the saints. It is a religion that has a Caribbean origin; the Spanish applied it as a demeaning reference to the people. They felt that these people had an unusual devotion to Saints rather than to Jesus Christ.

Many of the Catholic saints are given names in the Santeria faith; for example St. Lazarus became Babalz Ayi.

God is referred to as Olorun, the "owner of heaven: He needs food in the form of animal sacrifice, prepared dishes as well as human praise.

Ritual sacrifices play an important part in Santeria, the animal blood, commonly chickens I collected and offered to Olorun, it is thought that this blood pleases the saint thus bringing good luck, purification and forgiveness.

As in Voodoo, the dance plays an important part believing that it brings possession to individuals. Also as in voodoo the ancestors play an important part as an example and a guide.

There are many national variations to this religion.

Hoodoo

Hoodoo is a folk religion that originated in the southern US. Hoodoo and Voodoo do share some of the same components, but the terms used refer to different beliefs. Hoodoo is based on African practices and many Native American use of herbs and plants. Christian and Jewish practices have also found their way into the Hoodoo religion.

The difference is that Voodoo is a religion that has been established over the years and is influenced by Catholicism while on the other hand Hoodoo is magic and not a religion and is influenced by Protestantism and Evangelical movements in the south.

Hoodoo has many areas of everyday life that it influences love, gambling, the treating of diseases, employment and even the darker elements of cursing one’s enemies and necromancy, the conjuring of the dead. In Hoodoo the use of many home made potions and charms is widely used.

Because Hoodoo is based largely on one individuals magical power the practices and rituals are adapted based on a what a person wants and desires the most in life, what they are inclined to do to achieve that and their every day habits. There is no structured system for Hoodoo the practices are passed from person to person through generations.

In Hoodoo the use of herbs, minerals and parts of animal’s bodies as well as a person’s possessions are of great importance in doing a spell. Also used greatly are any bodily fluids but the most important ones are blood from a menstruating woman, urine and semen.

Most practitioner of Hoodoo have been black people but there is also white and Native Americans that practice the art of Hoodoo also.

The main goal of Hoodoo is to allow people to influence and guide their daily lives through supernatural forces.

Everyone has either seen or heard about the movie the Christmas Carol that was adapted from a story by Charles Dickens, in the story a miserly man Ebenezer Scrooge is haunted by three apparitions that hope to change his feelings for man kind and Christmas, in the end they succeed and he is redeemed.
The Christmas season is reported to a very active time for hauntings perhaps it is all the recognition or the excitement, or it being a very holy time but ghost sightings seem to increase over the season.
There are many reports of deceased relatives returning on Christmas Eve as if to wish their loved ones a Merry Christmas. There is a man who reports that on Christmas Eve his mother’s spirit visited him and his wife as they sat in front of the fireplace, she never said anything she just sat there looking at them both smiling. Another report of a Christmas haunting is not as pleasant as the first one, this ghost seemed to like to push and shove newcomers to its former house as if to say it did not want any outsiders infringing on its Christmas celebration.
A young mother reported of a strange encounter with a young man when she tried to purchase a purse for a gift, she heard a voice from out of the air that said to her to be careful she was being followed, she left the store, but found that he had some how followed her to another store, she saw him many times in different places throughout the store. She finally summoned help from a security man telling him she was being followed by a strange young man in a trench coat and could she get someone to follow her to her car. The security man told her to wait there, and he would be right back. As she stood there waiting for someone to come walk her to her car, she again saw the man in the trench coat, he glared at her to let her know that she had thwarted his plans, she knew that a guardian angel ha! d warned her of his evil plan for her.
There is another true story from England of a young man driving home along the coast during Christmas time and he witnesses the ghost of a man dressed in a monk’s robe looking down at the sea, there is a report of someone having committed suicide in that area.

A woman who lost her mother three years before Christmas reported that her phone rang in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve, she answered it to a woman saying a pleasant "hello there" she immediately recognized her mother’s voice, the phone line had a lot of statice and it seemed to cut in and out, she said to the voice, "this can’t be my mother she is dead" to which the voice responded "nonsense" and the phone call was cut off. The woman is convinced that it was indeed her mother somehow calling from beyond the grave. Other family members report hearing the phone ringing in the middle of the night.
There is a story of a couple spending Christmas a beautiful Victorian bed and breakfast in Oklahoma. The bed and breakfast was all decorated for Christmas in the Victorian era decorations. The couple knew that the home was haunted by many newspaper articles to the such. The couple took a room downstairs by the stairway, to the woman it felt very heavy but they took it any ways. The woman who owned the house explained a little bit about the various hauntings of the home, there is a male entity that has been seen in the living room he is dressed in black. There has been the reported sighting of a woman in a yellow ball gown, she has been witnessed by many guests many of these guests have fled the B&B in fright, and there is a reported sighting of a cat.
The woman that night as she got ready to go out, felt that she was being watched, perhaps it was all the talk that afternoon of the spirits that supposedly haunted this house, but whatever it was she became very uncomfortable. She was glad to leave the house t! hat evening.
There are many more true accounts of Christmas time hauntings, perhaps being visited by Christmas apparitions is not all together a Christmas story of long ago, perhaps it is something that is going on today.

There are many areas of the world that are considered cursed by either what occurred there or by a person or group of people who actually place a curse on the area or still it could be possible that the area was all ready cursed for some unknown reason.

The first area that we are going to visit is the Windy City, Chicago, all though Chicago is noted for its many haunted locals, there is a legend of a curse that was placed on the Chicago Cubs back in the year of 1945. The story begins with a man named William Sianis or better known to his many friends as Billy Goat. Sianis was the owner of a tavern which is now known as the Billy Goat Tavern. He was an immigrant from Greece and an avid baseball fan. The year of 1945 the Chicago Cubs were to play the 4th game of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers at Wrigley field, Sianis purchased a box seat for two for $7.20. He took his goat, Murphy to the game. He and the goat were allowed to come into Wrigley Field, and they paraded around the field until the ushers led them off the field. Sianis did not like this one bit and a heated argument began, afterwards he and the goat were allowed to take their box seats. The game began, but before the game was over, Sianis neighboring seat attendees complained to the ushers of the awful smell of the goat, Cubs owner Philip Knight Wrigley had no choice but to eject both Sianis and Murphy before the game was over.
Sianis was so angry over this ejection that it is said he issued a curse that the Cubs would never win another pennant or play in a World Series game at Wrigley Field ever again. Not surprising the Cubs lost that game 4 and the World Series to Detroit, naturally Sianis wrote to Mr. Wrigley asking him one question . . . "Who stinks now?"
For the next 20 years the Cubs would only finish second in their division series, since that time the cursed Cubs have not won a National League pennant or played in a World Series until the 2004-2005 season.

Our next cursed location is the infamous Bermuda Triangle that is located just east of Florida. The points of this legendary triangle are said to be Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Miami.

The first legend of the Triangle began with Christopher Columbus as he and his crew sailed into the Triangle waters he reported in his log that his compass began to act strangely. Later he reported seeing a fire ball falling from the sky, this could have been a meteor, he kept these things from his all ready superstitious crew. Later on he and the crew all saw dancing lights on the horizon, all though they saw sea weed and land birds the ship would wander the Caribbean for a week without sighting land.

Since the time of Columbus there have been reports of at least 100 ships and planes being lost in the Triangle with many lives on board. On December 4, 1872, the crew of the Dei Gratia found the Mary Celeste drifting in the Triangle, they boarded the Mary Celeste and found it to be abandoned. All though the ships had left New York for the trip to Genoa together, the Mary Celeste seemed to have a haphazard route, so the captain of the Dei Gratia decided to investigate. He found that the Mary Celeste was in perfect running condition, the sails were still set, all was intact on board except for one life boat which seemed to have been deployed. Of course there are many stories concerning this, from bloody swords under the captains bed to disembodied voices sucking off crew one by one into a dark underground world.

Another famous disappearance in the Triangle is that of flight DC-3, in December of 1948, it had originated in San Juan Puerto Rico to Miami, Florida. It was a perfect take off and about 50 miles from Miami the plane radioed in, the tower radioed back, but they never received a reply back. Shortly after making radio contact with the tower at Miami Airport, this plane with 30 passengers vanished from the clear and calm night sky. Search parties were sent to scour the land where it was believed that the plane had crashed, there was not a sign of any wreckage either on the land or in the 20 feet of water, officials are still puzzled as to why this plane that was being flown by a seasoned pilot could have just disappeared.

There are even reports of disappearances and strange occurrences to this day. Many people have many theories about the Triangle. This area is known for its sudden storms where a complete whiteout condition is formed in seconds along with strong winds and waterspouts as well as other dangerous conditions associated with these storms. This is thought to be one explanation of how a ship or plane could simply disappear.

Other people believe that the lost city of Atlantis is in the area known as the Triangle, they feel that the powers of the lost city could be responsible for the disappearances. Other people believe that these disappearances are due to UFOs. Perhaps we will never know.

Our next cursed location is Lake Ronkonkoma in Long Island, New York. It is the largest lake in Long Island that is located in an area that is rich in American Indian heritage. Perhaps this is what has started the urban legend about the lake being cursed.

The lake at one time was deemed a sacred lake by the Indians and it was also a meeting point for tribes in the area. Different tribes controlled different areas of the lake. The legend says that an Indian Princess fell in love with a white man, knowing that her father would disapprove she would meet him by rowing out to the middle of the lake, one night her father saw this clandestine meeting and he killed the white man, the Indian Princess was so distraught that she rowed out to their meeting place in the middle of the lake and killed herself.

This bottomless lake that empties into Long Island Sound seems to make a sacrifice to the Legend of the Lady of the Lake each year. This legend contends that this Lady of the Lake calls to young men that are swimming in the lake to come to the middle and then she drowns them. There are a lot of unexplained drowning of young men in this lake. Whether it is because of some curse, no one knows for sure.

Our next cursed area takes us to the state of New Jersey. The Pine Barrens is a section of New Jersey that is the reported home of the Jersey Devil. The Pine Barrens area is a dark and beautiful place where the red waters of the Mullica River rise to meet the bog in town. The cedars that line the river banks stain the waters a deep reddish color, and this helps with the appeal of the legend of the area. This area of Southeastern New Jersey was originally inhabited by the Lenni Lenape Indians until white settlers settled in the region in 1609. At first it seemed a promising area for a settlement, but the land was inhospitable due to the dry and infertile land which could not support any farming. Later bog iron was discovered and it became very rich in industry, this iron supplied a large percentage of the iron used for ammunition during the American Revolutionary war. But the prominence was short lived as a higher grade of iron was discovered in the west thus shutting down the Pine Barrens main industry.

Desperate the people of the Pine Barrens turned their endeavors to the wood industry, this did not prove profitable for very long, the residents were thrown into poverty. This all seems to intensify the urban legend of the Jersey Devil.
The Jersey Devil is described as a creature with the head of a horse, large wings and claws and has a roughly four-foot-long serpentine body. Seeing the devil ushers the omen of disaster to come. According to early legends its appearances have come before shipwrecks and the outbreak of war.

The origin of this legend begins in the 18th century with a Mrs. Leeds who was living in poverty with her 12 starving children, found out that she was expecting her 13th child and issued a statement that she did not want anymore children and to let this one be a devil. When the child was born, it was deformed, legend says that it crawled from Mrs. Leeds womb and up the chimney and out into the woods. There are rumors that it has fed on small children and livestock all the while haunting the area for years to come. There are rumors that the creature was exorcised from the area in 1740 but the exorcism ritual only banished it for a 100 years allowing it to return in the year 1840. There have been reports of the Jersey Devil being sighted up to present day.

The Jersey Devil is not the only urban legend to come out of the Pine Barrens there are many reports of a ghostly apparition named the White Stag that appears to forewarn of disaster. It is reported that this White stag apparition appeared and saved a run away stagecoach filled with people from crashing and killing all.

Another reported urban legend of this region is that of the Black Doctor. There was a black doctor named James Still who lived in the 19th century. He had always wanted to be a doctor but the color of his skin made it almost impossible for him to do this. The story goes that he retreated to the Pine Barrens to study his medical books and learn herbal medicine from the local Indians. He then began to help people in need even after his death.

Our next cursed location is in Connecticut in the small town of Dudleytown, Dudleytown is located in the woods of Cornwall Ct. It’s an abandoned 18th century village. This small village in the northern corner of Connecticut is one of the most intriguing haunted locations in the United States.

The first plot of land in Dudleytown was acquired by a man named Thomas Griffis in the year of 1738. Soon others including the Dudley family members bought land and settled around the Griffis plot later in the mid 1740s. All though life for these early settlers was difficult, they managed an existence through cutting lumber for a nearby town’s iron production. Farming was difficult due to the acidic soil and the lack of sun as the town itself sits in the shadows of three mountains.

Many people believe that Dudleytown became cursed because of the curses plaguing the Dudley family when they arrived from England. Some people believe that the Dudleys came from a long line of cursed ancestors including a primary carrier of the Bubonic plague. There is also talk of a family member a well to do Lord that lost his head along with Lady Jane Grey. Still others believe that the reason that the Dudleys left England was because of a curse put on them and all generations of the family by a powerful royal family member. Many also believe that this land that the town was settled on was also cursed to begin with and that possibly that is why the Dudleys felt the desire to settle there.
There were four Dudley family members, possibly brothers that show up on land records for the settlement, they were Abiel, Barzillai, Gideon, and Abijah Dudley. Abiel is the first one to be listed on tax records and seemingly the first one to have been struck by the Dudleytown curse. It is said that he lost all his money and became mad. This seemed to be the start of what would soon become the norm in Dudleytown, reports of insanity, murder and suicide. The first recorded fatality was in 1792 when a man fell while he was repairing a barn roof, he was believed to have been murdered by the owner of the barn, it is reported that the owner of the barn soon became insane due to all the speculation as to the man’s death.

The list of strange occurrences and death go on, in 1793 the Carter family members were all but wiped out by Indians, in 1804 a young woman was struck and killed by lightening, her husband went insane, the wife of Horace Greeley hung herself in 1872.

In the 19th century many people reported seeing strange apparitions as well as beasts, there were reports of corpse mutilations, as well as strange and unusual deaths. By 1900 the town was almost deserted.
Still the strange thing was that people still tried to live in Dudleytown, in the 1920s a doctor and his wife set up a summer home in the now abandoned town. Upon arriving from a business trip he found his wife laughing hysterically, she told him that she had seen demons and apparitions that visited her while he was gone. He quickly moved her back to New York City where she killed herself.

The strange thing is that the doctor remarried and continued to spend his summers in Dudleytown. He in fact was one of the founders of the Dark Entry Forrest Association that still helps to protect what remains of Dudleytown today.
Today there are many reports of disembodied voices, whispers and laughing, people have reported being pushed and shoved by unseen hands, the apparition of a woman on a white horse has been spotted amongst other apparitions. There is a feeling of all over despair once entering into the abandoned village, shadows seem to move and oddly enough there is no sound of birds or any other life in the village.

Another haunted area in neighboring Long Island is in the township of Amityville. This small middle class American town came to the public knowledge November of 1974 when six members of the DeFeo family were found murdered in their home on 112 Ocean Avenue. The dead consisted of the Mother and Father and four of their five children, the surviving family member Ronnie DeFeo would be later charged with their murders, he later claimed that something demonic came over him forcing him to kill his family members.

Two years later a family moved into 112 Ocean Avenue where they claimed to have suffered from the unnatural evil, they fled 28 days later completely abandoning all their possessions. Here began the urban legend of Amityville. Some believe that the house was built on old Indian burial ground, some believed that the house was built on land that one of the judges from the Salem Witch trials owned, all of this resulting in the land being cursed. No one knows for sure there are many ideas and theories on what went on and why. Some believe that the house is still cursed, no one since the family in 1976 has had any problems, waiting for the right family to move in.

Our next cursed area began in Clendenin, West Virginia and ended at Point Pleasant, West Virginia on the border of West Virginia and Ohio. This strange occurrence began in November of 1966 when a group of five men was working in a cemetery when they saw what looked like a brown human like being that flew over their heads. To them it did not appear to be a large bird but rather a man with wings, soon over the whole region there were reports of more sightings of this Mothman creature. There were many descriptions of this creature as the sightings became more and more plentiful. The descriptions said that this creature was between 6 and 7 feet tall, with large red glowing eyes that were attached to a human like head, its wings were folded on its back. Many people reported that this creature would emit a loud whining sound that raised to a high pitch then ceased. The area dogs would howl at it. One farmer’s dog went after the creature when it was seen at his farm, the dog was never seen again, and the farmer was scared to death by the experience.
Some people believe that the Mothman sightings were a harbinger of disaster, this came true when on December 15, 1967 the Point Pleasant bridge collapsed during rush hour traffic, sending a dozen vehicles into the dark waters of the Ohio river all totaled 46 people were killed, 2 bodies have never been found the other 44 were buried all together in the town cemetery.

This is one of the few urban legends that do not seem to be a hoax there were just too many credible witnesses to the strange events, this case even though some can logically explain the strange creature as sandhill cranes that are not native of the area, but witnesses clearly state that the creature did not resemble the crane, still others believe that many people were spooked by the many reports and perhaps saw owls flying overhead. Whatever the creature was the Mothman sightings remain very hard to dismiss.

Although these are a few of the many areas where strange things have happened, many people believe that these occurrences can be explained, many other people believe that these events are in fact paranormal, perhaps these areas are windows for some other world, or the force of a lost continent, what ever the reason, these areas still draw our attention to them. Check back for more cursed areas.

It seems that ghost hunting has become quite a popular sport over the past few years. What could be more exciting than the thrill of walking into a cemetery and hoping to have an encounter with a spirit? Many cemeteries are very notorious for sightings of spirits and many people hoping to get a thrill flock to the cemeteries to catch a glimpse of a specter.

But can we be sure that these spirits are those of the people that are buried there and not some evil entity just waiting to cause harm to some unsuspecting ghost hunter? Evil spirits are attracted to cemeteries for many reasons; the human suffering of the loved ones that have lost someone in death draws them into this place. They are also drawn by the decaying of the human body, which was made in the image of God.

Also many people bring Ouija boards to the cemeteries to try and make contact with ghosts. Unfortunately they are not sure what they have invited into their circle. Most times these evil entities start out claiming to be the spirit of a deceased person that has died tragically in some sort of strange accident. This way the evil spirit can sucker the unsuspecting ghost hunters into believing that they are helping a spirit by communicating with it, this gives the demonic more and more energy to manifest into something that the unsuspecting did not count on.

So would be ghost hunters must be wary of becoming the hunted in their endeavors to find evidence of ghosts. There are many things one can do to protect themselves against possible onslaught of a demonic entity.

The first most important thing to do is to envision oneself in a "Christ like" white lights, to do this imagine that you are on a stage and a white spotlight is shinning down on you. This is the light of Christ's protection. Also ask for God's protection before entering any known haunted area or house. Also remember that it is important that you believe that God and his angels will protect you because this protection is only as powerful as you believe in your heart it to be.

Also remember that a spirit whether good or bad can come to you at anytime or place, so be prepared for this. Know the risk that you are taking before you venture out for some "fun" it just might not be the kind of fun that you are looking for.

There are many different forms of magic. Many spell casters learn more than one form. These forms each require certain rituals to be done in order to have anything happen. Some of the different forms prohibit the use of other magic rituals these usually are the ones that involve invoking spirits.

Following are some of the different forms of magic, note that most offer a form of divination, which is the foretelling of the future by supernatural means. All forms are dangerous to the person that is not aware of the consequence in doing the ritual. Always remember that in invoking or summoning a spirit during a ritual the spirit usually requires some sort of payment like a contract. This can be as simple as calling on a spirit and then promising to have regular ceremonies in remembrance of this spirit to a contract that implies much worse consequence. A contract of this type is usually promised to a demonic spirit for something that they did for the caster. A demonic contract of such is more tight and inflexible and is usually that you will give us this. So spell casters beware!

The first form of magic is elemental magic and it deals with calling on elemental spirits. These are usually spirits that deal with nature like light, ice, wind, trees, fire, etc. In this form of magic the caster calls on the various types of elementals to perform the minor tasks and to give the caster the knowledge that they seek. The caster then contacts these spirits that can bring the information of several types in order to aid him in his foretelling and spells.

Another form of magic is crystalomancy or crystal gazing. It is a divination practice that has been practiced since ancient times. A person attempting this form of magic can use any transparent object, such as crystals, crystal ball, mirror or water. A practitioner in this art is generally known as a crystallomacers or crystal gazer. Crystal gazers usually use a sphere or an oval globe made of genuine rock crystal. The color can vary and it can either be transparent or opalescent depending on the gazer's desire. The crystal itself must be with out any flaws and a perfect ball and stands on a base that is ebony, ivory or boxwood.

The ceremony of crystalomancy is an elaborate ritual and can be used for a variety of reasons and have been used in the finding of missing persons. The images that are produced by the crystal gazer are left open to careful interpretation and could be easily misinterpreted.

The next form of magic is that of necromancy. Necromancy is the speaking with the dead. Many practitioners of this art summon up dead spirits to gain lost knowledge or guidance. This along with all other forms of magic can be very dangerous to the novice or person looking to get some kicks with the paranormal realm. In summoning up spirits one can never be sure as to what you have summoned. Many a reckless practitioner has summoned a spirit hoping to gain the wisdom of the ages and instead has contacted the terror of the ages. So beware!

Hydromancy is the next form of ritual magic and is the process of divination by water. It is similar to crystalomancy and has several different methods to the process. One method uses a ring suspended from a string over a shaken vessel of water, another method is throwing three stones into standing water and making observations from the circles formed in the water. Still other methods use words pronounced over water, oil being dropped in water, watching the whirls and current in a river, still other methods relay on the agitation of the water. Once again the interpretation is left up to the practitioner.

The next form of magic is blood magic or sanguimancy. This is not a blood spilling magic as the name suggests but rather the bloodline of the practitioner.
The practitioner's ancestry may have included demons, fairies, imps, or the like. These spell casters magic is much wilder and use other forms of magic too.

Totemancy is the form of magic that deals with the spirits of animals. This is usually done in wide-open places. The practitioner calls on these spirits in order to enhance their physical abilities. Like for instance the practitioner may call on the spirit of a wolf to enhance their ability to be cunning and have sharp senses like that of a wolf, or they may call on the spirit of a mountain lion to enhance their ability to be sleek and agile.

There are many more forms of ritual magic all equally dangerous to the unwary practitioner. These should never be attempted by anyone not familiar in the ritual or the consequences of what might happen.

Every one is intrigued by a full moon. There have been many stories written about the effects on a person during the full moon. The most famous one is of the werewolf. In the story it was believed that during the full moon a person bitten by a werewolf would turn into a wolf and feed its hunger on unsuspecting victims.

Still today there are many stories of a person going insane during the full moon. Many nurses and doctors report that their patients tend to act in different manners during a full moon as opposed to any other time of the month. There seems to be a rise in crime during a full moon also.

Possibly this is due to the moon pulling on the earth more at this time than other times and this might influence people in different ways.

Many occult religions practice special rituals during a full moon to use the energy given off at that time.

Many people have wondered why an exorcism is more effective than just the person that is under demonic attacks rebuking the demon in Jesus Christ's name is. People wonder why it works and why is it really needed.

The definition of exorcism is the ritual act of driving out evil, demons, or spirits from places, such as homes, lands or buildings and from persons or even things in which demons are thought to dwell. Exorcism can occur in all societies of people from the most primitive to the most sophisticated. We apply the term exorcism to all the acts that are used to dispel or frighten the demons or spirits away.

To be possessed means that a demonic entity has gained mastery over your whole body and it controls your whole life. Your free will has been taken over by the demon along with your intellect, reason, sight, thoughts, hearing, and speech; every facet of your life is controlled by this entity. This demonic entity clouds your whole being so that even the light of faith cannot enter.

A person's capacity to welcome God into his life is blurred by sin. Most of the time evil occupies a place in a person that God wishes to dwell. Jesus Christ was born so that man could be freed from evil and sin. That is the reason that we cast out demons in Jesus' name so that once this person is free from the evil he or she is free to find a place for Jesus and or God in our lives.

If we look at the teachings of Jesus Christ we will find that he encouraged and endorsed the use of exorcisms. Demonology is a prominent motif in the gospels. The evangelists portrayed Jesus as one who was locked in mortal combat with demonic forces. In this struggle every successful exorcism represents a victory over Satan and his minions.

Christian's believe that a higher authority is needed to bind the entity in order to control it and command it to act differently than its own will. Christians believe that this higher authority is Jesus Christ. In the scriptures the belief is that these demons, devils and evil spirits are afraid of Christ and that just by mentioning his name during the ritual will cause the demons to flee. Christ handed his disciples and his church the power to exorcise demons in his name.

The whole exorcism ritual can take as short a time as fifteen minutes or it can go on for days. The devil knows that it must leave so we work like everything depends on us and we pray like everything depends on God. We try to be positive and trusting no matter how long it takes or how many times we have to repeat the prayer. When it comes right down to it this all happens in God's time and not ours.

Even though the word exorcism can be a frightening thought it also can be a quick appealing fix. As Jesus said in the gospels, when two or more are gathered in my name there I am also. Exorcism treats the presence of evil in the world seriously and gives us hope in the liberation through Christ.

Jack-O-Lantern this symbol comes down from the Celtic practice of carrying the embers home from the sacred bonfire, they used hollowed out turnips to carry these embers home. These embers were used to relight their fireplaces.

Black cats are symbol of Halloween because they are believed to be the reincarnated spirit. Also black cats are believed to be the familiars of witches. Familiars are believed to be low-ranking demons that are in constant attention to witches for the purpose of carrying out their spells.

Trick or Treating door to door by children comes down from the ancient practice of children going door to door in Medieval times begging for cakes on All Souls Day (November 1). The children then recited prayers for the dead relatives of the people that would give them cakes (treats). And if the person did not give the children cakes then they would not receive any prayers for their dead family members (trick)

Witches are symbols of Halloween because of the folklore surrounding them using magic, once Christianity spread witches got a bad name and many believed that witches were in league with devil worship at that time.

Witches broom is a symbol brought down from ancient times and it stems from a fertility dance that was done around the full moon. It involved an old corn broom and jumping over the broom during the dance. This was done to insure fertility either in a person or livestock. It is believed that this evolved into witches riding brooms in the full moon because as Christianity spread many of the old superstitions, like this fertility dance became more and more like magic and witch craft instead of just superstitions. Also some believed that a witch could turn her magic wand into a broom in order to hide it.

Witches hat is a symbol that probably came down from the peasant woman’s hats at the time of the witch trials in the 16th century.
